Apedemak was depicted as a lion-headed man wearing a crown with a uraeus (cobra) and holding a scepter or a bow and arrows. He was sometimes accompanied by his consort, the goddess Amesemi, or by other lion-headed gods, such as Mahes or Shu.

A third major god of Kush was Sebiumeker, also known as Sebiumekar or Sebiu. Sebiumeker was a god of justice, law, and order. He was also the patron of craftsmen and artisans. He was depicted as a man with a falcon head wearing a crown with two feathers, or as a falcon. He was often shown holding a balance or a scepter. He was sometimes identified with the Egyptian god Maat, who represented truth and harmony.
